I don't think I had any rigid preconceived expectations for what I would find in The RV Living Blueprint: A practical, step by step beginners guide to RV Life and RV Travel by James Wolf. However, as one half of a couple who has long planned to someday leave it all behind and travel the country in and living out of an RV, I had hoped for something more. To be clear, the information within is good information that's well written. That said, I found the majority of it to be common-sense things I didn't need to be told, such as hard-sided coolers are more durable, or if you're buying a used RV, buying a mattress topper is less expensive than buying a whole new mattress but be sure to check for the right size. Also, cautions against driving tired or speeding. There was also quite a section on buying an RV, with details that would apply to most vehicle purchases, ie: is it priced right, does it have a clear title, inspecting used RV's, etc. Like I said, good information that I wouldn't imagine most people would need told. There was some info I think I'd hoped to find, such as checking with the National Forestry Service for parks throughout the country, or that Texas, South Dakota and Florida are states with no income taxes and very minimal residential requirements and how to get mail on the road. I guess I was hoping to learn a little more about what to expect from life on the road and more tips for making it a happy, successful lifestyle. Maybe in the next book? I would rate this book 3.5 stars because I feel like it could have been more. RV living isn't for everyone. It is a lifestyle choice that's more itinerant and less stationery than standard sticks-and-bricks style living. It is a choice for those who like to explore, who thrive on changes of scenery, and taking in new experiences. This book helped me understand RV living from a unique perspective, and why if you are an explorer, adventurer, traveler, and innately curious it is worth trying once to see what it means to staying on the move. The author does a great job of explaining how to set up your RV for maximum comfort - power and connectivity, repairs and maintenance, mailboxes and healthcare, safety and and well-being. Recommended reading if you are considering an alternative lifestyle choice.
